Hey all,

New guy to this forums, and figured I would drop you a line. I don't have many posts over at theakforum, but I've been trolling for a while under the same name.

My first build will be a fixed stock Maadi AKM kit with a Romanian barrel on a NDS1-EZ receiver. If all goes well, I plan on building a 74 after this too. All of my missing and 922r parts are in the mail and I can't wait to get started. The only thing I'm even remotely concerned with, is refinishing. I've never parkerized anything, nor do I have a blaster or any of the heavy equipment to do it right. Is anyone doing this soon that would let me come over and watch/instruct me; or hell is there a party going on somewhere? I can bring any flavor of beer you like :)

Cheers.

Thanks guys, PM sent. I'm down in the springs all the time.

My kit was cosmolined so it will take a me awhile to get everything off/drill the old rivets/and rivet the new shit on.

Got it ;)
I usualy let it soak in the parts washer at work for a bit then wash off with hot soapy water.
You could brake clean it or even let it soak in keroseen..

If you don't want a huge outlay in equipment check out the black oxide kit from casswell plating. It's just a chem dip but I've had really good results with it. Black oxide is what most aks tend to be finished in anyway. I'll also add that a blast cabinet is kinda like a dremel tool. You don't think you'll use it much when you buy it, but then you end up finding all kinds of stuff to use it for.

I'm sure I'll get there eventually, just trying to keep the spending down the better half doesn't start asking too many questions :D
