I keep looking at this thing. They say it will shoot, barrel looks stout enough. Better than the Derringer! What are the cons with an old pistol like this? Sounds like it needs a new spring here or there. As a backup CC gun!
I like the ole timers like that.Nice little piece of history.
I personaly would just fix up the springs and leave the rest alone. You decrease the value when you re finish a piece like that.
Would make for a great pocket gun..
Price is a bit stout but then again it is gbroker.
But it is pre 1898 so you do not need an ffl.

It says here, it might blow up with modern .22 short ammo!

I wonder if they make 22 short in the old blackpowder loads?
The original backpowder 22 short cartridge used a 29 grain bullet. I can't find a muzzle velocity for it though.
CCI lists a 22 CB short that has a 29 grain bullet loaded to 710 foot per second velocity. Fiochi used to make a 22 short loaded lighter than that (650 fps?) but I don't see it listed in the current catalog. Both of those are lower than the standard 22 short loading.
I little more research might convince me it would be OK to shoot the lower velocity modern shorts in that old gun. The trouble might be in finding that ammo.
For What It's Worth.
