View Full Version : Functional magazines for Colt .22 tactical lr

Hey folks. In need of some knowledge from those who have it.

With the magazine restrictions coming, I want to stock up on extras for my .22 tactical Colt lr. I've been told that the only mags which will work in this are the Umarex ones. Can anyone confirm, or refute this? IE, would a CMMG Ar-15/M16 .22 LR Magazine work or do I need the Rimfire 30rd Umarex Mags?

Yes, it is true. Only the Umarex will work. As is the S&W M&P 15-22 uses proprietary magazines. That is why I went to the SIG 522 and a dedicated 22 AR, both use the Black Dog 22 magazines. Black Dog Manufacturing (http://blackdogmachinellc.net/) does sell a fifty round drum for the S&W M&P 15-22... My BDM 50 round drum for the AR works great!

how does this help? i searched and this thread was the only one that was relevent to the "other mags for the colt 15-22" topic in the forum....

the CMMG mags for the conversion kits look IDENTICAL to the umarex mags..has anyone ever tested them in the colts?

They're not identical. The colt has a different tower and it looks like a different mag front to back measurement. A little WECSOG work they might cross fit. If you visit BDM's web site you will also see they do not offer or say their BDM / CMMG/ Ceiner / Spikes will work / fit
