I'm a new IDPA shooter, but plan on attending with a friend just to get an idea of what it's like. Well, of course, there may be a couple of guns and a couple thousand rounds of ammo too - just in case.

If possible, can you post the cancellation early? It takes me about an hour to get there so I'll have to leave around 6am to make setup. Thanks!

Bad weather year for CC.

Oct thru April is always iffy.

I remember getting snowed on while shooting there 4th of July weekend in the mid to late 90s.

I felt confident that after hearing the IDPA guys last month all "we shoot rain or shine" and "Bad weather is good training" there's be a match. So, went up there with a few new shooters. Sat in the parking lot for an hour with all the other people who had brought their new shooters that couldn't tell the match was canceled. The weather wasn't bad either. Sissies.

It's tough bringing new people into the fold when the old people don't have their act together.

We try to get the word out the best we can about cancellations. The word went out via email and here well before 6:00AM. I am sorry you went up for nothing and feel screwed.

We have our act together, but there is always someone that does not get the word. I have been called everything but a jerk numerous times about cancelled matches. Sissy is a new one though.

If you do not have email or internet access, please provide me with your name and phone number and I will call you next time.

For the record, you will not find me saying anything like "We shoot rain or shine" or "Bad weather is good training." If you slip and fall in the mud, and end up putting a bullet in yourself or someone else or have an AD because you cant feel your fingers and put a bullet in yourself or someone else is not my idea of a good time.

Match Directors dont like to cancel matches. A lot of work has already gone into the match at that point. Kicking them and calling them sissies for making a weather call based on a weathermans forecast, right or wrong, really makes us enjoy putting matches on.

I agree it becomes a safety issue (and sometimes a wet target issue). Anytime there is going to be movement in a stage, I would prefer not to running around on slippery stuff, or better yet, not having the shooter before me running around on slippery stuff.

I remember a odd stage on a March IDPA shoot at CC where there was still snow on the ground and instead of moving on foot through the stage we were pulled on a small trailer behind an ATV around the targets while we sat in a chair on the trailer. (training to be a driveby shooter?)

Wow! I remember that stage; it happened a looooong time ago. That was a fun one!! [Tooth]

I think the "old" people did have their act together and avoided the possibility of injuries. Have you ever shot a match in the rain, cold, or snow? Have you ever slipped in the mud or snow while shooting a match and had the wearwithall to keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction?

Safety is the first concern and with the forecast we had, to cancel the match was the only choice. Next time blame the weatherman instead of the Board of Directors and their decision. Better yet step up and run for the board instead of complaining about it on the internet.

Well, I know I filled out the registration form, and I am pretty sure I put down my e-mail address, and I did not get a cancellation notification (my spam blocker does not emails it until I flag it).

Still waiting on the classification results to get updated as well.

Does Mick/club officers need help? I would be more than happy to chip in with data entry and operations.

I can not afford to shoot for the remainder of the year, but I do plan on showing up early to help setup and keep scores for at least half the day (providing I don't have to work - that time of year).

I did not send out the email, but I do know that I got an email from fridpa (at) juno dot com before 6:00am canceling the match and it was also posted here. I am assuming you have read over the FAQ section here about how to get on the results/announcements email list...

Please contact Mick directly with your questions. I though he had already emailed out the updated classifier results. The site does not appear to be updated.

We needed help in Pueblo, but most people just wanted to shoot. That getting there early to help with setup stuff was not for them. And now there isnt any more IDPA matches in Pueblo.

Hoser,

I feel bad for you guys in Pueblo. I wanted to shoot them, but cost of fuel (a bit of a trip from Denver), and the end of the season got me. Even then as much as I would like to, leaving home at 0500 to get there for setup is not real appealing to me on my days off (not that I wouldn't if it was still summer/fall - motorcycle) . I do that enough to go to work. Staying late to tear down and clean up is a no brainer.

I have been in contact with Mick, like I thought, he has been a bit busy.

I did receive your test email...or someones about the shoots, so that appears to be working now.

Thanks!

Sticks

That was me. I have you added in the email list.

Hope to see you out there sometime.

I check the FRIDPA website match results about every 4 days to see. Still the same 23 people as the initial posting after the rain out.

Unless something is funky with my computer where it is not opening the updated version, just something it has cashed, then nothing has changed.

Mick is busy, he'll get to it.

If you are referring to to the classifier, what happened is that (due to the rain) it had to be shot in two parts. In order to get results for this classifier you had to shoot the whole thing which means that you had to have gone to both matches.

I did, in fact there were a great many who did. We had, and I am guessing, near 50 shooters on the rain out day, and I am betting most of them again in Sept.

My stage 3 scores are on the Sept results, I just don't have my scores for the first 2 stages.

Mick will get to it. I have faith.
