Hi folks!

Now that I am getting deeper into my mil stock of 5.56 ammo I have finally found the need to swage the primer pockets.

What do you all use to do this?

I was thinking about the Dillon Super Swage 600 but was wondering what works best for you....

I also have a buddy that has thousands of rounds of 9mm that are NATO headstamped....he would be willing to go in with me on the swager if it will work for his mil 9mm brass. Personally I have so much 9mm it is not an issue for me but thought I would ask.

Thanks everyone!

Mike :)

If you can find some one to split cost with you so much the better. I use a donated dillon and now looking at fabricating something up for the 650.

I have a 650.. Wish I would have bought a 1050 for just this reason.. The 600 swager works - but it would have been so much nicer to have it as part of my progression....

The only thing holding me back from a 1050 is the 1yr warranty, since it is considered a "commercial" reloader.

Dont let that hold you back. I have been using 1050s for 15-ish years and have never needed to get a part replaced that was not my fault for being a dumbass.

would love to have a 1050 but this is what I use http://www.midwayusa.com/product/253550/hornady-primer-pocket-reamer-cutter-head-small. It's not swaging, but does the job. Chuck it in a drill and you can do a boatload of brass in no time.

I currently use an RCBS cutter type crimp remover, but I am going to pick up one of these http://www.midwayusa.com/product/319662/rcbs-bench-mounted-primer-pocket-swager when they are available again although one of these would work fine too- http://www.midwayusa.com/product/235832/rcbs-primer-pocket-swager-combo-2

I have both swager and the rcbs cutter. I prefer the cutter. Seems to go quicker.

I'm using an RCBS swager die. It will take you about 5 minutes to figure out, then it's just like setting up any other die. Same as the Dillon swager, except you're putting it on your press instead of it having its own housing. Bout a third of the cost.

Yup. I went with the RCBS die too. It's not as much fun as the Dillon solutions, but does a great job if you're not running a ton of brass.

The RCBS die set swager is nice, just make sure you set it up right or you will bend rods. Its a common downside to this set. I started off with the RCBS die set and now run the RCBS bench swager, very nice and quick.

Just sit down when you get fresh crimped brass and knock them all out so you dont get them mixed up with the stuff you have already done. Im pretty good at marking things and i think i ran a few batches through twice as i wasnt sure.
