one of the local places I know has one in stock but I can't seem to find any information about it.

some say it's a relabeled 500, others say it's a clone, others go off about how much better 870's are.

I'm not a shotgun guy so I also have no idea what to look for when inspecting it.

the only thing I'm concerned about is that there's no bead sight.

it's listed at $165

According to Shotgunworld Forums and people who know way more about Mossberg than me; the New Haven 600at is a Mossberg 500 relabel

I have one I paid $90 for , new in the 70s. Parts interchange with the 500 , to include trigger group and barrels , Been awhile but I think it came in a Mossberg box.
Just took it out and looked at it closely and it is marked " by Mossberg" on the reciever.
Mine served well for many years on quail and geese in some pretty nasty places , still going. Had to replace the trigger group after riding it down a skree chute once but for the price mentioned I'd grab it.
Brownells has a wide selection of beads , easy to replace.
Good luck!
