Here we go again, this sounds bad. http://m.9news.com/topstory/article?a=328535&f=1272
Wouldn't reporting anyone to CBI be a violation of federal medical privacy laws?

I keep hoping I'll wake up and it will be April 2.
People who vote wrong should be entered into a database of non-voters. Ie damnocrats.
I'm an RN - I'd be happy to make that call for them.

holy shit this states reps suck a nut i cant wait for 2014
If you guys think they're stopping at mag limits and UBC's, you're nuts. That was just the tip of the damnocratic-controlled iceberg. They're a runaway train that just keeps gathering steam. I'm past the point where I'm dismayed or surprised by any new legislative horror - I've made peace with it. I will treat all of the new laws with all the of the respect and creedence they deserve. And will continue to follow and observe them in the same way I have all along.

Apparently, She didn't file the bill and it is going to get some "revisions", whatever that means.

The version I read only requires the name of the person be given to CBI. This is ripe for abuse.

I do work quite a bit in suicide and threat assessments regarding K-12 young people. Sometimes I do ask law enforcement to do to welfare and safety checks on young people who are threat to themselves or others. Currently these checks save lives, but do not violate the constitutional rights of the families because the 2nd and 4th amendment rights are recognized by law enforcement. However what if the 4th was disregarded as this law could set up?
Personally I am quite worried about the power that such a law would give to potential anti gun people. My wife is a psychologist and I often read the learning material that was provided to her or that was mandated that she research to obtain her degree and certifications. Quite frankly I have noticed many instances where there was a lot of biased material against gun ownership in much of the material. My wife and I are strong 2nd amendment supporters, however many of the others who are exposed to this material as they obtain these degrees and certifications may come out quite biased and anti 2nd amendment. I worry about how these people would utilize such power.

THIS IS OUT OF THE NY SAFE ACT. AND BLOOMBERG PLAYBOOK BULLSHIT. FUK ME
These fukers don't give up.
Seems like someone pointed out that abrogating due process would likely get this shot down.

Can I be the first to propose the fix? Hand Jim a blunt object, put him in a room, in international waters, and let him "talk" to whoever wants to infringe on our freedoms. I have a crisp new $10 bill that says Jim won't even break a sweat, and we'll probably all be 900% happier with the result.

They don't care Violating the Constitution was the first step. Violating your medical privacy, #2. Blatant confiscation #3 followed by NO Knock's.

I'll throw in $10 for the cause. I'll even provide Jim with a new baseball bat when he needs it.

I've watched a lot of debate of the last few months, and seriously, this is about the best idea I've seen presented to deal with these anti-gun whack-jobs! Ya know, Bert, if you ever get sick of gunsmithing you could always go into stand up comedy. [Beer]

A draft of McCann's original proposal would allow psychologists, nurses and counselors to enter a person into the national background check system, prohibiting that individual from legally possessing a firearm for a year. Not qualified to diagnose anything. This could easily be used for personal vindictive purposes, setting aside all the other issues.
Likewise, everyone in health care has had problematic patients. A personality incompatibility isn't sufficient for a diagnosis, despite what many in the health fields think.

In NY the "professional and or LE upon reporting said "concern" Gives LE, usually NYSP the "RIGHT" to enter a home with out a warrant AND SEIZE ALL FIREARMS ON THE PREMISES.
Wonder how this plays out with the Shrink who "notified' LE on Holmes ?

All the studies have show that mental health professionals way over predict future dangerousness. Now someone wants to give them more power to do that. She needs the help of a qualified mental health professional. Paraphrasing, She can't even run her own life, I'll be damned if she'll run mine.

This is the catch 22 scenario. "You have to be crazy to think you need to own that many firearms, have that much ammunition, talk about tyranny in the face of common sense legislation"
If something like this passes, know the dam is about to break.

OK, let's sat someone is dangerous and has guns... The state uses a law like this to come take them...
We now have a dangerous person that's royally pissed , but they are (temporarily) disarmed... So what happens when they drive their SUV into a Walmart and start clubbing people with a medieval flail?
If they are truly dangerous, they need incarceration or professional help... (but how do you punish somebody for something they haven't done yet?) But these liberal whacks think the best choice is to take his toys away?

Good call!!!!
I think these people like to see how stupid they can get. Liberalism...a race to the bottom.
Wow. I thought when we moved to CO from Illinois we were escaping this kind of BS.[Mad]
Way to create a law that will prevent vets from trying to get help for PTSD. Soon as you show up at a doctor office after separation and an anti 2A nurse or doc hears you say the Army/Corps diagnosed you with PTSD and you're on the list. [fail]

Philip K. Dick wrote about this... Pre-Crime. You've probably seen Minority Report, based on the Dick story. Slippery slope here, and I foresee many many very big problems with this.
