WTF...they get over $1 million? and the actual case against zimmerman hasn't started? they don't even know if Martin was the attacker or not....If I lived there in that HOA I would be beyond fucking pissed.

It was probably settled by the HOAs insurance and not any of the board or their lawyers. They probably didn't have any real say in the decision.

Maybe pay 1 million pretrial prior to the guilty verdict and have to pay out 5 million.

What do you expect when POTUS sympathizes with thugs?

What do you expect when POTUS sympathizes with thugs?

and endorses them before a court of law can have the final say...

Am I the only one who feels that there is virtually no reason to respect the rule of law anymore? I feel like a sucker for not being a crook, liar & a cheat?

Except when he is not guilty and they should get nothing,

I think a lot of honest people feel that way these days.

Guilty verdict =/= civil liability.

The HOA is making a bet. They bet they can get off more cheaply for $1m now than wait for the criminal trial. They're probably right. The alternative rings up a lot of litigation costs before they come to a settlement.

Wouldn't make a difference if it was $1 Million or *pinky to mouth* ONE BILLION DOLLARS!

Family won't see a penny of it. Chapter 7. All claims - settled or not - discharged. And yes, it works on entities too. Doubt a HOA has any assets to speak of that can be dissolved. So - his family gets stuck with their own legal bills for trying to profit off this BS. Win!
Man I hope so.

Zimmerman was leader of their volunteer neighborhood watch program, but I doubt he was bonded, insured, or even trained and certified as a security guard . . . and he was on psychiatric medication at the time of the incident. Whether he was attacked or not, I'm not surprised by the payout. Ghetto lottery, yo.

I do love how HuffPo is sticking to their guns and still using the picture of 10-year old Trayvon. At least they switched to a more current, non-jumpsuit wearing picture of Zimmerman.

"You know, if I had a neighbor, he'd look like George Zimmerman,"

I'm getting close. Most laws are enforced with the same rational as a gal on PMS trying to quit smoking. Depending on who you are folks may look the other way. Then you got the government making up policy that has no basis in law. And cops enforcing department policy, rather than the law, again with no legal authority.

Ever see the "Chapelles show" episode about reparations? Them Moon Crickets will buy an Escalade , lottery tickets,Courvosier, and a truckload of Newports. Be back in section 8 on food stamps, by the end of the year. Unless of course they run for elected office. Like (Yeah they be my checks foo)! Rhonda.
