Called at 0600. District 2 and 3 are closed, so me and the boy are off!

I might be off. Boss is supposed to call at 7. Depends on weather in Cheyenne.

Days like this are the least likely days for me to be off. Fortunately, I am working in Ft. Lupton today which is only about 20 miles from my house.

I'm off, but I'm always off on Tuesdays. Kind of a wussy storm to cancel school.

Nope. I'm already in to work. Business as usual. It's supposed to be a quiet week though.

Work cancelled... Yeah right. [LOL]

TRnCO
04-09-2013, 08:08
When I was a kid, school was never cancelled until after it was OBVIOUS that you couldn't get to school. These days, if a weatherman says it might snow tomorrow, school gets cancelled. We live in Colo. for cripes sake, get out of bed and get your butts to school.
I lived in the country when I grew up. If the school bus couldn't get to us, dad would load us in the 4x4 pick-up and haul our sorry butts to school. I never missed a day.

Dingo
04-09-2013, 08:28
I'm off. Doesn't do me any fucking good because the schools down here are all canceled due to the extreme, murderous, storm-of-a-century holocaust we're having. (0.5 inches and counting so far).

My base is closed. No pay. I could have gone in anyway but was concerned if the weather actually turns bad & the gates got locked down.

Road conditions are currently "green".

You guys just aren't being very sensitive to all of the people who moved here from California an Texas.

Any snow at all should shut everything down for a minimum of a day.

It wouldn't be fair if they had to drive in this stuff like the natives.

04-09-2013, 09:11
WTF is going on in our state? I couldn't believe they started cancelling schools last night. This is just lolwtf funny. Even watching the news this morning and they were like "OMG How are the roads out there!" As you can see 3 clear lanes on the highway behind the reporter and traffic moving right along. Maybe their prediction of a second wave of "blizzard" will happen later and I'll stand corrected but as of right now, this is a light dusting.

My daughter has no school today. Ooooh snow!. What ever. My boss made me come into work.

I will say the roads are probably the worst condition of any other storm this year. Orchard between Buckley and Parker was quite literally a solid sheet of ice. I eased on the brakes at one point and I swear I actually sped up. And went sideways.

The more you talk about your boss, the more unpleasant that they seem. You should quit with no notice!

04-09-2013, 09:39
Any one else notice when it snows people who drive cars that really shouldn't be out in the snow (smart cars ect.) are driving 3 mph in all 3 lanes side by side? Can't they all just be stupid in 1 lane?[fail]

Aloha_Shooter
04-09-2013, 09:46
Not off but I have the option of working from home so have decided to avoid the high winds and limited visibility. I have some actual papers and briefings to work on so it's legitimate -- other than the time I spend surfing through ar-15.co while I have writer's block.

Aloha_Shooter
04-09-2013, 10:00
For what it's worth, the amount of snow here in my neck of C Springs is marginal at best -- just a light dusting. I can live with the 200-300 ft visibility but the high winds are the big issue. I've been seeing/hearing 15+ mph near-constant winds and gusts exceeding 30 mph since late last night. I'd be on the road right now if there was anything to be gained by my doing so but I do think discretion is the better part of valor today and support the decisions today to close as many schools as they have.

They closed schools today but everything else is open.

A regular Tuesday for me. Drive to Boulder. Pray I don't get hit by some texting zombie. Drive up the hill. Pray I don't get stuck behind a bus or delivery truck stuck in the Narrows. Go to work.

No OT for military. :( We're in the middle of an inspection, so the usual day or two off after such a long alert period doesn't apply either. I'm not out in the weather, but would rather be. 100 feet underground breathing 10% recycled air for 2.5 days sucks.

Agreed. The ride for my kid to school is an old lady that I don't like driving anyway, let alone in her crap car. It took me two hours to get home tonight and the streets were solid ice. Can only imagine how much worse it will be tomorrow morning.

Looks like a sort of snow day for me today. Actually, sounds more like a late start sort of day. Boss called and told me to stay home for a few hours and see if the roads clear up a bit before I make a road trip to Pueblo to get tags for my company truck. This is the same boss that has me travel up to Casper in near white-out conditions.
