Dear Members,

The new house has been acquired! Now the part that is troubling:

Neither. You're in Texas - go shoot something, BBQ it, and eat it. :-)

What can you get the better deal on and which one has the channels you want?

If you need the ultraweb and you LOVE tv I'd say cable. If you are a casual tv viewer and don't need tons of bandwidth, I'd go dish and phone. Also depends on age of the area, newer/less ghetto areas have better cable service. Your stuck with DirectTV if you need the NFL package.

I just have a antenna for over air broadcast. DSL for internet, get my TV from internet. Mainly Netflix for $8 a month, plays off my BluRay player and wireless router.

No cable here! Satellite or nothing! No problems if I keep the snow brushed off the dish ; probably something you won't have to worry about.

I'm in the process of moving from DirectTV to an antenna. I bought a Mac Mini and a dual over-the-air TV tuner and am going to use the Mac as a DVR instead of the DirectTV DVR. I'm 50 miles from the TV broadcasting antennas and I get a perfect picture on all the networks. Planning to cancel my satellite service in July when my 2-year contract is up. I'll save $75/mo.

hahaha

You don't work for E* do you?

I have both, 15 years with Dish, hate CenturyLink(Qwest) with a passion, so Xfinity (Comcast) for internets and phone. Ridiculous costs, but I want my crazy fast internet and like Dish too much to change.

I'm actually considering dumping Dish altogether though and just going OTA and Netflix/streaming. I just can't invest in all the new gear right now.

That is hilarious.

I have DirecTV and the HD is great but the price sucks. I am thinking of switching to an OTA and streaming as well.

I have both. Cable for broadband and VoIP provider (ViaTalk) for home phone over the same pipe. Dish DVRs for TV, hoping to upgrade to Hopper soon. DishAnywhere for TV content delivered wherever via my broadband cable.

Seconded.

I posted a DirecTV Friends and Family code a while back if you search for it.

[fyou]....DirecTv...Still having problems with their POS Genie system, and their customer support dept can give a shit. An absolutely horrible decision to switch to them!

I've had them all over the years and at the end of the day Xfinity has been the better deal since I require a high speed connection.

I had the Century Link high speed and over air antenna + Hulu and Netflix and with the deal from Xfinity the 20 more a month gives me the digital preferred package for 100 a month.

Now when that all expires... May be back to high speed and OTA and Netflix through Apple TV that I have.

Like I always tell my wife she loves TV I use the Internet it works.

Dump them both! Don't be a slave to The Man's content. Get the best internet you can afford and then get a backup secondary internet so when cable is down you're still running. Get a dual WAN router to keep it flowing and go all internet based. I've got two Apple TVs and two Roku boxes and we haven't looked back. Don't miss the Sat at all. While I don't get to see all the fun commercials so I feel like I'm missing out on some of pop culture, that's just the price I have to pay to be free of stupid TV.

You are like Kevin Smith in the Die Harder movie. You sure are dedicated. I thought I was cool with a cordless phone and Cricket.
