We'll have room for about 12 people - we've already got ~6 confirmed.

Basics you'll need:

AK Parts Kit
Receiver
Compliance Parts for 922r

The parts kits are still available from a couple of places. Locally there is APEX down in the Springs, I'm not sure if 5280 has any.

Receivers - you can go 2 routes on these. You can have a 100% receiver sent to an FFL and xfered to you, Nodak is the preferred vendor. Other option is to get a flat (not a firearm), bend it (firearm), and go from there. We will have all the equipment to bend flats.

Compliance Parts - You need to replace some of the Evil imported items with good 'ol Made in the USA not so evil parts. I think you have to do 5? I usually replace the FCG (3), grip, and the slant brake. Others replace the piston, stock, magazine, etc. You'll also need to get a rivet kit to replace the rivets (unless you want to do a screw build, then you'll need screws).

There is no cost for attending the party - we will have a grill and fridge available.

Please post any other questions.

Does that mean that we do not get to build? I and splogan have kits/receivers and parts. I was hoping to get in on a rivet party. I have built AK's before I just do not have the tools for rivets.

At this point we've got PLENTY of people who want to come. I'm working on putting together the list based on response order, partially built kits vs newbs, etc. With this response I might do another one in January.

I'll be back later tonight to review the thread and go through my IMs.

After sending multiple Pm's with contact info and no response I am going to have to pass. After a brief PM with longhunterco and no response from a personal Pm for you hkorion I understand that "virgin" kits are out of the objective of your build party and what I was hoping to build. Best of luck on our builds.

Misunderstanding on my part - you guys are all set to come and work on whatever you need to. There should be plenty of room/time for everyone to get what they need done.

Sorry twitchy, I was pretty occupied this weekend. Good luck with your build.

I can't make it, but my tools will be there.

FYI, I'll be selling off my flat bending jig after this build party, so bend'em while you got'em.

I'm going to Tanner this weekend to hopefully pick up a parts kits. I have seen AK parts kits at the Tanner show before but this will be my first build so I would like advice on what will be easiest to build and any gotchas to look out for. I would like to build it on an 80% receiver. Are all of the 80% receivers interchangeable, or do I need to get one specific to the parts kit I get? Links to online sites would also be appreciated in case I can't find a good parts kit at Tanner. Thanks.

I've personally only worked on the Romy 'G' kits, they take the regular receiver. The Yugo underfolders will take a different kind. I know that you need to check the receiver you get to make sure your fire-control-group parts will work (single hook vs. double hook). I have enough knowledge to be dangerous :)

Check out arfcom in the Ak-47 section to see if they have some stuff stickied as reference material.

ETA: Check out 5280 Armory at the Tanner show. Those guys are supposed to be 'it' when it comes to AK stuff.

I guess I waited too long. [Bang]

Put me down to attend as an observer if there are any cancellations.

You're on the list as an alternate :). I'll try to get as many as I can reasonably handle.

We'll get started around 9 am. Everything should be set up to start bending right away, might take some time to get the flats bent and people started. We'll run until we get sick of each other or 8 pm(?). I'd like to get as many done as we can.

Once it gets closer to the date I'll send out an e-mail/IM confirmation with directions. If you need drive times, I'm within 5 minutes of Broadway and C-470.

Got the confirming email, but never got a reply with the directions to the event.

Don't even know what flavor kool-aid to bring!

I think the camera was left here

We'll try to get some stuff up soon, I don't know that anyone actually took any pictures. Deniability and all that....
