Do you think the price of $0.50 and up for a round of .223/5.56 is now the norm?

I got 300 rounds of federal in value packs at walmart last week for .34 per round, just be patient and deals can be found.

glad to see you can still get it for under .50 a round, almost bought some 55gr PMC X-tac @ $12.99 for a box of 20 till I did the math and it equated to $0.65 downrange for every pull of the trigger.

If people are clearing the shelf at 60c + a round , then the prices will stay and climb higher. Walmart seems to be one of the few that is keeping prices in check. Most retailers are taking advantage of supply and demand scenario and charging whatever the market will handle. Capitalism. With the bullshit going on in politics right now, I,think the shortage and price is here to stay for a year or more. If we get into a shooting match w north Korea , it's even going to get worse.

Sportsmans Warehouse had some 5.56 for sale at $26.99 a box and CTD had the same ammo for $36.99 a box of 20 so $12.99 is probably a deal.

I disagree, there are better deals out there, you have to be patient and persistent. Wal-mart probably has the best .223 deal, at $.37 ish per round, out there if/when they get it in but it happens. There are also other gun shops that are selling for $.45-$.50 per round. As for me, I'm not paying anymore then $.50 per round. I recently bought my rifle and that is the only reason I was paying $.50 per round because I did not have any ammo.

When you start seeing all gunshops and online ammo stores carrying .223, wait about 2 months, and that will be the new baseline for .223 prices. Unless new firearm/ammunition legislation is introduced between now and then.
