I saw this on another forum and felt it was worth sharing. During the era when this film was made flying was a special treat and it was a lot of fun to take this United "flight" down memory lane. This is a pretty long video but it's a great way to kill a half hour if you're a fan of aviation history, specifically the early jet age. My first flight on a commercial airliner was an Air France 747 in the late 60s en-route to Algiers via Paris. The 747 was really new and it was pretty exciting for an 8 year old. The Paris - Algiers leg was on a Sud Aviation Caravelle. Yes, we dressed in suits and ties back then for a flight.

The last time I was on a DC-8 was 1980 when I flew, courtesy of the USAF, from Travis AFB - Anchorage - Yokota AB. It wasn't quite as luxurious as the flight accommodations in the film!

I'd gladly dress in a suit and tie to fly again ........

Give me the larger seats they had back then .. and stop groping me at security I'll gladly go back to dressing that way.
