I have several .357s and a .44 mag. I've always been interested in a .41 mag. Is there any need since I have the little and big brothers?

Glock 10mm, same-same in a better platform.
The 41 mag is good platform. Anyone who compares it to a 10mm is just fooling themselves. You can't launch a 210gr projectile out of a 10mm at 1400fps.

True. only a 200gr at about 1200. More normal is a 180 at 1300.
Sorry. There are people out there who seriously think the 10mm can be the ballistic equal to the 41 mag and it just isn't true. I'm pretty sure you can just about get 1700fps with a 170gr bullet.
Don't get me wrong, the 10mm is one of my favorite rounds. And 15+1 rounds of it in a Glock is quite the package.
I have two 41s. One a Smith 657 Hunter and the other a Freedom Arms Silhouette. Awesome caliber.
On critters and targets I think it is better than the 44 Mag. In fact, after I got my FA 41, I have not shot a round through my FA 454...
I shoot a lot of 200 and 220 gn bullets through mine. When I want plinking ammo, I use 170 or 180 gn bullets. I shot a deer many years ago with a Speer Gold Dot. Performed perfectly.

My take if you handload.....why go for it over a .45. Decent .45 loads get you with a 300gr. at (depending what you can handle) 1200-1400 fps and create a boat load more energy than you would be getting out of the .41. If light and fast is your thing then a .41 is a decent round.

I've taken a deer with my Ruger Blackhawk in .41 growing up in Wyoming. Looking back at my follies of youth I never should have attempted that shot, but I got lucky. As far as "needing" another gun then the answer is always yes.

Need? No. If you want one, get it. I shoot my .41 Mags more than my .357 or 10mms and I sold my .44 Mag. The cartridge is very versatile and since it is .41 caliber, has some legs up on the other cartridges. The BCs for same weight heavy bullets are slightly better than the .44s. Also, making .41Mag shotshells is really easy with just a wad and shot card from the .410s.
The 10mm is not even close to same and a the Glock platform better...hardly. I have some 10mms, and it is a favorite cartridge of mine, but the .41 is so much more versatile. If you want to get a bit more exotic, you might look at the .414 SuperMag. It is a lengthened .41 case with some serious horsepower. Depending on platform, you can shoot .41 Mag and .41 "special" loads out of the same firearm.
