Don't know if there are any others from down this way- alot of DOC officers around- I live in Penrose, (work in Colorado Springs in technical field), have been here for about 10 years- raised in Alaska, where I developed a respect (and dependance) on guns.. had a competitive shooting team at my high school (they had just changed from .22LRs to German .177 cal air rifles at that time, but can't recall the name)

always carried a Mossberg pump-action 12-gauge when in bear country, from the age of 12..

have just recently really began taking an interest again... don't have to go far to target shoot, live on 47 acres- several in the neighborhood have ranges on their property, and we're just south of the Ft. Carson range (get F16s every few days overhead at high speed, and can hear/see all kinds of other hardware at times)

I've taken an interest in the AR because of the versatility, but don't own one yet- would like to eventually have a 5.56, .308, and .50BMG versions- wasn't aware until recently that they had so many options.. also have interest in 1911s, and tactical shotguns (really like the Saiga-12, seems like a good use of the AK receiver to me)

Welcome,
I'll do a general waive as I pass through Penrose on Sat.... Unless the Coyote Coffee bar is open, then you might get a little longer waive.
I have property down between Canon and Westcliffe (Iron Mtn area), it's a 4 wheeling and shooting weekend.

I live north of Penrose- but also own a lot out that way- off Copper Gulch/Indian Wells road... borders 16,600 acres of BLM wilderness study area...
was your property spared from the fires the last few years down that way?

but what's odd is the POA at my mountain property says no shooting- but I have no covenent/HOA/POA in Penrose- previous owner would take out his AK-47 all the time... one neighbor across the highway has some impressive artillary (from the sound of it), not to mention the periodic thumps from Ft. Carson

Yesterday they had out the big stuff, 155mm or heavy mortars would be my guess from the pitch... it's usually more like 105mm, 25mm and .50cal sounds...
