*EDIT*: I should have put "Craft" in the title.... Supposedly there were some "Craft" private operators 'hired' to be @ the Boston Marathon. But who knows...
Has anyone seen this "report"?

Here's the first part...
Photos: Private military operatives hired to 'work' the Boston marathon with black backpacks, radiation detectors, tactical gear. (NaturalNews) Natural News has now confirmed that at least five private military contractors were operating on scene at the Boston marathon, and that they all carried black backpacks which look very similar to the backpack carrying the pressure cooker bomb (see pictures below).
The mainstream media is completely censoring any mention of these "Craft" operatives, pretending they don't even exist. Only the alternative media is conducting real investigative journalism on these bombings. The mainstream media isn't interested in the truth; they only want to spin the attack into a new way to somehow blame conservative Americans for something they had no part in.

I wonder who hired these guys. I thought they were Secret Service and this was considered a "National Special Security Event"? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Special_Security_Event

I saw something like this this morning and immediately said to myself, "This sounds like total bullshit". It still sounds like total bullshit to me.

OK, so what? We hired good guys to look for dirty bombs. Meh.
You know there are other people out there who wear 5.11 pants, combat boots, and use the pinisher symbol ...
It'd be newsworthy if the Boston Marathon didn't hire private security.

Why not just wear normal clothes and blend in?

Oh noooosss! Additional security was present at the event! The horror!
I fail to see where the story is. It's pretty obvious what they were doing there (assuming Occam's Razor).
And for the record, any "news" source that has to tell you all about how the MSM won't cover the story and that they're the real reporters and how they'll continue to fight the good fight, blah blah, is probably not a source to be routinely relied on.

Airsofters?

Exactly these internet commando super sleuths apparently haven't bothered to get the memo that anyone can buy those hats on their website.

The rest can be had any of a million different places like we all know of course. And we wonder why there's so much difficulty getting a straight story on anything.....

Airsofters?
These boys aren't 'airsofters'. They aren't hobbyists, or spec-ops fashionistas, either:

Them being there doesn't mean there is something nefarious going on. It just means that they were there.
Anyone else think the black bag with the silver tag on the carry handle looks like a GoRuck bag?
These aren't just innocent airsoft bystanders.

I'd be curious to see who they where working for. Boston Marathon organizers or federal/state agency???
Who cares? Are you upset that they weren't wearing yellow "EVENT SECURITY" t shirts and quoting lines from Roadhouse? There is usually private security at large public events...some are better and more professional than others.

There is no shit, sir.
The sarcasm in your post was obvious. I detected it and replied in order to repute it.

The question is if it was the norm for that event in recent years, or if there was a specific threat that wasn't made public. Also, were positioned only around the VIP viewing area?

Yes it has been the norm for decades now. Anywhere there is a large crowd of people for a scheduled event, certain levels of security are required depending on the size, nature of event, threats, etc... It's nothing new.

I didn't express myself well. If the typical security for an event like that is X personnel, was this event at 2X or 3X ? Not trying to stir up a conspiracy theory, just wondering.

Impossible to tell from of pic of two guys. When the evidence is so sparse, it's best not to jump to conspiratorial conclusions.

This. An event this big (last time I checked, I don't know the exact number, not a runner, but 26 odd miles!) would require quite a lot of personnel for security. With day-to-day LE matters to contend with on top of a marathon, stretches the local PDs and SOs pretty thin, no surprise they outsourced some of their security. I take it some of you have been to a concert at Red Rocks, the DPD cops on scene are augmented with Argus Event Staff security, same thing here, just on a much more grand scale.
