If I was Governor I wouldn't pay the legislative or sign any bills until the full repeal of all the gun grabbing laws and the punitive license plate law and my personal favorite the anti smoking law was on my desk for a signature. Then the real work would start.
With you until the anti-smoking one. Difference there is I have the right to clean air, you have privilege to smoke, but you cannot impede my right to clean air. Now, given pollution you can try and strawman that I don't have access to clean air, but we know that's a weak and stupid argument to even attempt. I will agree a business should be able to say they are a full on smoking establishment and we'd all avoid it unless a smoker, but that's a moot point.
Polls in the mass media always try to show the liberals as the majority and/or winning. It's what they do.
