Out Of State Camping Recommendations.

With the looming fire restrictions in CO I would like to find an out of state Camping location with a lake and recreational shooting facilities nearby to celebrate 4th of July.

Utah, NE, WY and KS are all considerable the only requirement would be it is within an 8 hour drive of the metro.

I would love your recommendations and feedback.

I go to Fish lake utah. Its right around 8 hours but worth it! the lake has some large browns, lake trout and rainbows. if you have atvs take them! there is a large trail system out there and you can ride for days. there is plenty of places to go shooting up there but no official "range" but theres plenty of open areas to shoot long distance if you want. good luck and have fun wherever you go!

Wyoming. Wheatland or Greyrock. Greyrock doesn't even charge a fee. Fishing is good. No trees, a little windy.

I remember at wheatland the wind soooo bad that it ripped a LOCKED access door off the camper!

Just a breeze, heard a farmer had to put catch ropes on the sheep to keep em from blowing to CO.

Check out Flaming Gorge Utah it's awesome.... From my place it's under 7 hours so you could do it in 6ish....

WY don't treat the greenies as good as they used to (that's what they call us). We spent 4 days up there a few weeks ago and even my nephew who works for game and fish there gave me crap. If you take a boat make sure to stop at the port and get it inspected.

Sounds about right.

Guernsey is a good option though.

I haven't been in quite a while but I remember Glendo, WY to be real nice. Also consider lake mcconaughy in Nebraska. That place is a blast. Massive lake, real clean, good fishing, wakeboarding/tubing

I used to Go to Glendo a few times a year and miss it. My only problem is that you definitely rough it in Glendo and I don't think my wife would be happy about that. The wife will want access to real indoor plumbing, a shower and preferably electric hookups on site for the camper.
