So evil Ray1970 has got me thinking about getting into specialized calibers for long distance Pdog hunting. Seems like the .22-250 could be the ticket. Like the rest of my rifles, I will reloading for it. Any thoughts?

Here is kind of my formula...
.22 Mag to about 100 yards, then I go to .223 to about 300, then .22-250 to about 500 and then a .243 (or other 6mm).
I have an old Remington 788 in 22-250 that I use for PDgos and Coyotes. Its one of my favorite rifles, even though its ugly as hell. It is extremely accurate and it. The Remington barrel is a 1-14 twist though, so I have to stick with lighter bullets. I've had the best luck with 36gr Barnes Varmint Grenades.
243. You can get the same velocities as. 22-250 with a bigger/heavier projectile. You can also hunt big game with it.

22-250 works. 40gr NBT with 41.0gr of H380 makes p-dogs vaporize. Be warned though, 22-250 burns barrels, 1000-1500 rounds pushing light super-fast bullets and it's toast.
Yep, one reason I have gone to 50 grain NBTs and shoot more from the $250 Encore barrels than the $500 Rem 700 barrels.Quote:
