Twenty Bucks Well Spent.
So, a couple of months ago, during our monthly visit to Costco, my eye was caught by set of battery-powered under-cabinet LED lights.
I thought that these might be a useful addition to the safe, so I tossed them in the cart.
After I got home, I decided to eschew the screws that came with the lights, and just stuck some velcro to them, and some strips of velcro inside the safe.
Now, whenever I open my safe, the lights fire up, and I can see the interior. I have no idea how long these things will last, but assuming they've got a decent life span, I'll be pretty happy with them.
Amazon sells the same set, but they're about $10 more.

The motion sensor on the lights doesn't always pick up the opening of the safe, but a quick wave of my hand and they come on.

Cool idea, I like the motion sensor

Always nice to take a chance on something and have it pay off. Glad they worked out. My man-cave is pretty well lit so I haven't had a need for a light in the safe. If that ever changes I'll nab up a couple of those.

I put those on my stairs to help my almost-blind dog see where he's going. I've had them there for well over a year and they're still going strong. [Awesom] I use rechargeable batteries and they last about two weeks or so in between charging. LEDs are awesome!

I've had the same ones in my safe now for about 5 years. I've changed batteries twice. Lights still going strong

I bought magnetic tape with an adhesive backing. I stuck the tape to the mounting bracket.
After several days in use, the magnetic tape stayed stuck to the safe, but the weight of the light was more than the adhesive could hold.
I will use velcro also when I remount the light.

My wife just got me that large safe from Costco for my birthday. I wonder if they still have those lights available. Might be heading over there today, thanks for sharing.

I have something similar, i use these

add some sticky velcro on the back and they work great. No need to wave a hand, they turn on when the safe door opens, just wish they didn't use 4x AAs.

Went and picked up the lights and some velcro for $1.30. Works great, thanks again Justin.
