We need open carry laws like that here.

What do you mean? Our open carry law is way better than it is in stupid California. We can actually carry loaded guns here. Or are you talking about the part where the officer is not allowed to run the numbers of the gun?

While we do *officially* have open carry here, there are places (mountain towns) where I used to open carry that I've had it made very clear that it is not considered acceptable. Still better than most other states.

Not considered acceptable just means that the whole town can get into a line to blow you after they find out that there is no law against it. ;)

No. Manitou Springs, for one, took advantage of the changes in law in 2003 to ban open carry within city limits.

I believe Denver also bans open carry. Possibly Boulder as well, and there might well be others.

Broomfield is also a PITA about open carry...

Simply put, politicians know they cant blindly pass laws that help them and harm us with the constant threat of an armed uprising that could see them ousted from office or worse.

Do you really think that the threat of an armed uprising even crosses the mind of public officials anymore? Not for a long, long time. The vast machinery of the dept of homeland security has nothing to fear from any size group of armed citizens. Their only stake in the matter is to further stigmatize gun ownership in hopes of further restrictions.

I'd like to see WAY more of open carry where it's legal. It's sickening that you could do something perfectly legal and still probably get a "talking to" if a cop saw it. Just like private transactions conducted in public places, I would not be surprised if someone called the cops because they thought something illegal was happening. It's just more public ignorance borne of propaganda.
