I have scrap wood of all different types/sizes/etc. if possible I would like to avoid having to pay a fee (landfill) to dispose of it. Are there any recycling type places that don't charge? (The one in Fountain DOES charge)

If nobody wants it and you don't want to keep it around (I always hang on to scrap for other projects that come up), cut it up into pieces that fit in your trash can and just fill it up before they come collect it.
This being your first house and renovations will always pop up, save it. I'm not the only one here who can say digging in the wood pile has saved more than 1 trip to town.
Which leads to the next suggestion. Anytime you see lag trash cans on CL and or low priced storage bins, BUY Them.
Ha, finally a step ahead of y'all! I do have some house trim, 2x4's, etc in a small pile I plan on keeping. This other pile is truly slag and needs to go. Still, looking, thxs.
Cut it to appropriate length if needed, and burn it in a fire pit or chiminea this winter. If you like that sort of thing.

No such thing as scrap wood for us. All firewood. Untreated raw wood in the stove that is primary heat for the house and most any wood in the shop stove.
