Is there a Comcast cable guy in the house?

Okay, so I have a couple extra xfinity cameras.

Website says I can pair an install them myself... awesome. Well. I guess not so simple. I followed the instructions on attached video because it has all the equipment I have. I get to the point where the touchpad tries to locate the camera atttached to the Security router to set it up and update firmware, but it never works.

I know one of the cameras works on my system because it was previously on my system. I guess this is a long shot that there is a comcast guy out there, but I figured I would try. Or even someone who has done a DIY install of the system before.

Ok so I will admit I work for them and I do xfinity home work. The cameras take a little voodoo magic to work and if they have been unplugged during a firmware update or anything they are "bricked" and need to be replaced. Their are two "dongles" used for the camera, one for pairing and one for powering after they are paired, so you have to use the right one and it is directional so make sure it's plugged into the router right. In theory they are put into factory default when they are removed from the touchscreen in the settings. But you can hold the button on the camera for 60 seconds. Are they black or white cameras? In theory go to the settings, not sure if you can do the same stuff on the customer loggin as you can the tech loggin, but if not PM me and I can give you the tech loggin, but in the settings remove the cameras, then power them up with the dongle and after getting two green lights I would push and hold the reset button for 60 seconds, then when you have the green lights again try to pair them again in the settings. I have to run to town but I will watch that video when I get home and see what it says.

Thanks! I thought there had to be a way of resetting them to default. They are both the indoor outdoor black ones. I have all the "dongles" and I am pretty sure I have them set up right. The Xfinity video is pretty good actually in explaining the process.

I just cannot get the xfinity router to recognize that there is a camera hooked up to the ethernet port to update firmware/pair it up, etc. I get the two green lights, then to to the touch pad to detect the new camera, and nothing.

I'll work on resetting them to the defaults and let you know where I get.

Wow that was better training then I got when they launched XH here haha! The video is correct on the white VS black dongles. Do you have the Netgear stand alone router or do you just have them running through the wireless gateway?

I got the netgear one.

I actually just reset to default one of them and it worked like a charm! supposedly this one camera I got was "broke". It is pairing up right now.

On to the next one!

Cool glad they worked! I don't do many Xfinity home jobs because I normally do commercial stuff but I have battled with cameras a few times. When you get the sensors let me know if you have any issues, if they are door window sensors they go real smooth, just make sure you set the zones and stuff.

All this started with my rabbit who doesn't know it but is real close to the stew pot right now, ate the power supply portion of my camera. I bought another camera "for parts" so I could replace the parts. But I rewired the original power cord and the camera that was sent to me that was supposedly not working is actually working now so it was a great score.
