fun start to the day
Woke up to a damn cold house, furnace igniter not coming on-furnace is 7 years old (Goodman brand), waiting on the tech-I'll be late for work. Younger son went out to warm up his car (2001 Xterra) before heading off to snowboard-locks engaged when he closed the door-I had to laugh because it's the second time this happened (he bought the car used in December) and I told him last week to get a spare key made, knucklehead.
I could've gotten really mad but I've decided to just laugh it off-hey, it's only money and I can't take it with me. It's nicer outside in the sun than it is inside without heat, the dog doesn't mind lol.
So how's your day starting off?

Fixed my goodman recently, bad sensor for the blowers, preventing the rest from starting up. $60 fix. You can order up all the major spare parts from amazon for about $100. Fyi. Keep them for the next time.

Does it come on at all and then go out? I had an issue with mine where it'd light up, then shut down 3 min later. It was the burner sensor rod or something. One bolt, pulled it out, cleaned it with some mildly abrasive paper (dollar bill, regular paper, etc) and put it back in. Bam, back up and running and saved a $75 service call.

I had an issue with my furnace igniter. When the guy came to fix it he said it just came loose and was not close enough to the flame area to ignite the gas. If you can see the igniter check if it wiggles, should be tight. I guess when it's loose it does not ground properly so it won't glow.

ARGH. My sympathies- what a rotten way to start the day!

The small parts warranty ran out 2 years ago, the heat exchanger is warranted for 10, everything else (what else is there? lol) is covered for another 18. My son and I had a good laugh, yeah he went and got a spare key made too ahahaha.
