Boreas Pass?
Anyone ever been? Any Ive heard there might be some decent shooting places near there. Of course we plan to actually hike up to it.
Google map of the place Anyone see any reason why we couldnt shoot, just as long as we are far enough away from the trail?

Gone there and hiked and camped several times over the years, but never shot there. Don't see why not. That's kinda the back way to Breck, and once you get on the Breck side it's mostly private (the old gold fields and such), so I wouldn't see a problem.

I don't know how things are now, but about 10 years ago they had moose up on the non-Breck side of the Pass so you might want to be extra cautious of your surroundings whilst shooting - in case they're still around.
Accidentally shooting one of those could get very costly.
Otherwise, sounds like a grand plan - I'd go ahead. Enjoy.

Moose
I was up there about a month ago and saw said moose on the non breck side. The thing has a huge rack. I'm looking to head back up there this next week or a little later in the season. Didn't do any shooting, stopped in Bailey on the way back for that.
I don't see any reason not to. Just make sure you have a good backdrop so you don't shoot me while I'm hiking.

We ended up going near idaho springs instead this weekend.

I rode my mountain bike up there from the Breck side last weekend. There was quite a bit of traffice after about 10am. Tourists must get up really late. I wouldn't try shooting on the Breck side of the summit but there may be some places on the Fairplay side.
