That is pretty cool. I'm a big fan of electric propulsion, namely, Hall Effect Thrusters (sometimes called Hall Current Thrusters).
I'll have to look into the Hall Effect Thruster, hadn't heard about that yet!
It sounds like we will be getting a report from NASA in the coming months on the gen 2, hopefully. I hadn't heard about the gen 1 until today either. I need to read more!
We've been using HETs on satellites for more than 10 years now with great success, but the technology is still developing and improving. The physics of HETs is solid, but we are developing better materials to deal with those physics in the space environment.Quote:
