What the real story on "assault weapons" and standard cap mags in the city and county of Denver?

I am still confused on this topic...

Can a non-Denver resident pass through or stop in Denver legally with their AR/AK/M1A/Styer/Thompson/etc in their vehicle? What about mags (15 vs 20 vs 30+)?

There seems to have been significant confusion of this topic over the years (Denver Resident vs Non-Denver Resident), even more so now post-July 2013.

I don't want to get into a wreck on I-70 next to the dog food plant and some how get hemmed-up about whats in my gun case.

Yes you can, it becomes a "Assault Weapon" with a 21 round or more mag. You can read it on Denver's website and get the info direct from them.

This confusion stems from the old named type of assault weapons ban denver used to have

I'm not planning to move to Denver at all, just kind of curious.
