How Do I .....
So imagine it's Christmas time and you're driving around looking at lights. There are places you can drive to and put your car radio on a certain station and the homeowner can run a light show with music.
How do they do that?
I want to do a fundraiser for my school (please don't get into all the legalities yet of it as that's not what this is about, I am working with the district lawyers, etc).
Basic Logistics are to hang a sheet off the school and do a drive in movie with a projector (do I need a special projector too for that?). But the sound... how would I do the broadcast thing so people can tune their car radios (about 60 cars I would think) to a certain channel and hear the movie?
Thoughts? Thank you.

Sparkfun electronics in Niwot may be of help here. They sell kits for FM and other stuff. They seem very education oriented, so they might be willing to pitch in.

Two words, Mr. Microphone.

Thanks for the replys!! An FM transmitter just might be the key. I'll also check out the other ideas as well
next problem: would a regular projector work or do I need something made for distance and outdoors... Might have to camp out at school and just try a bunch of different things, lol.

A regular projector should work, just make sure that you look at the throw and screen size for the projector that you are using. The picture sometimes looks a little washed out if there are sources of light behind the screen.

Also with your FM transmitter, you really need to look at the range. Many of the small house transmitters have like a 50' range or less, so if you have 60 cars, the ones in the back might get a distorted or over lapping feed.

Danimal, I found a FM transmitter that covers a radius of 150ft... "Should" be sufficient for my application. Thxs for the reassurance on a regular projector. Was doing some research and some of the drive in ones are 30k plus, wow.
