My buddy tried to build his first lower, fitment was snug so he figured he would drill it out. Well the bit broke and he jacked it up trying to get the stuck bit out. Can it be fixed?

$50 mistake. Write it off and start over, as it will probably be a lot more expensive to fix than replace.

Is bit showing in the push pin hole? If so you may be able to pinch with needle nose and back it out. Assuming you get it out, you could clean up mistake and thread for a plug, then shorten your spring a few coils and insert with plug screwed in. This would also serve to keep detent and spring in place when removing stock. Now a feature and no one knows.
