I was going to say with GG being from NY he should know who he is. But remembering he's an upstater and not from NEW YORK CITY! or Lawng Guyland. He wouldn't know of him.

He's probably sitting on a bunch of land with oil rights. There are a bunch of yokels in Texas with a lot of oil money and not much of (to put it politely) a formal education.
