Looking for opinions of HK VP9 vs the new M&P9

I've been a faithful M&P user for many years, but that included installing a crap ton of Apex parts, changing sights and such. I'm looking to get into a pistol that can be competitive, reliable and enjoyable to shoot bone stock. The first thing to pop into my head was the HK VP9. Can people provide feed back on the VP9 as well as provide their impression of the new M&P9 vs the VP9 if you've shot both side by side. I've never found Glocks to be my thing so that's why I'm not asking about them. If there's something else that stands out as an out of the box winner that won't need any "improvements" to get going, please let me know.

I have around 1k rounds through my VP9 so far. I have not shot it lately due to a visious bite from the CZ platform.

One of my shooting buddies who also bought a VP9 after shooting mine recently bought a M&P 2.0. I was able to shoot about 30 rounds through it a couple of weeks ago. The new trigger is much improved over the original one and the new grip texture is also really nice.

My VP9 is not going anywhere and I would say you cannot go wrong with either.

As stated I would try and get to a range that has both, fire some rounds and see which you like better.

We live in great hand gun times having soooooo many awesome choices.

I have both. Roughly 500 rounds through each of them and at least one IDPA match with each.

If you told me I could only keep one of them it would be difficult for me to decide which one to give up.

They bought have their pros and cons. VP9 magazines cost about twice as much as I typically like magazines to cost. Also, some people don't care for the paddle type magazine release on the HK because they aren't used to it.

H&K is good, until you need customer service.

You're welcome to check out both my VP9 and my M&P 2.0 if you'd like. Handle them, fondle them, shoot them, whatever.

I realize this post is almost a year old and you've probably made your purchase already. I carry a VP-9 on duty (local le) and absolutely love it. It is the first striker fired gun I have carried as I had a 1911 for the first 10 years of my career. I have over 2,500 round through it and have nit had any issues. However there are several people in my department that carry M&P 9's and love them. She M&P's have APEX parts and some are bone stock and they all seem to shoot well. In my opinion the main thing is finding a gun that fits your hand, VP-9 has something like 26 grip combinations, and training with that gun and not changing it up all the time. Get used to your trigger weight and the reset. Just because a gun works great for someone else, it doesn't mean that it will work great for you.
