That looks like it's up near Kenosha Pass. Good for her.
Gah! I've still not seen a moose, and was also up there this morning.
We have seen a few, usually on the way up to Steamboat Springs. I was riding a motorcycle out east of Greeley and saw a juvenile moose walking right down the highway.
Anyone see the story about the black bear near 133rd and Huron? That is the northern tip of Westminster.
Moose? Long Draw reservoir. Seen at least one every time. The other sure location is Walden and the wildlife area just south of Walden.
Moose.. not deer. Duh
If anyone wants to see moose, head up to Brainard Lake, -they are fairly plentiful right now.
There was one at 86th and Federal about 6 or 7 years ago. It was on one of my running paths, and I happened to chose another path that night. The next morning the police had streets blocked off for several blocks and the police helicopter was floating around. We turned on the news to see who they were looking for and it was a black bear!
Thanks for the moose tips. Hunting starts next week though so I can't peel off to go see one. I'll be in Bailey again tomorrow morning though. Pretty close to everything, so I probably won't get lucky.
Couple of good looking meese there.
On a related subject, I was near Gunnison a couple of weekends ago and saw a brown bear cub. I didn't know there were brown bears in Colorado. I've seen black bears and this definitely wasn't a black bear. I came around a tight curve on my motorcycle and he was about to cross the road. He stopped and I slowed down quickly. Not sure which one of us was more surprised. He turned and ran but I passed by about ten feet from him and got a good look at him.
