Applying a Lien to real estate

Anyone have experience with attaching a lien to real estate? Procedure/process. Been reading up on it, but want to check with anyone if I am right track. It appears I can do this without getting an attorney involved?

Ah. I've filed a couple of construction/ mechanic liens in Denver without a lawyer & both liens were paid prior to/ upon the home's sale. My experiences were rather straightforward processes. Not the same but not wholly dissimilar. Unfortunately, I can't be of more help.

I would call the Clerk and Recorder's office in the county in which the property is located and ask them the procedure. They're not allowed to give legal advice, of course, but they can be very helpful in explaining basic procedures.

It may be as simple as bringing in a copy of the judgment and the description of the property.

Sometimes they need some type of proof the property is owned by the person on the judgement. Usually a printout of the county assessors page for that property will do.
