RIP and God speed.
The background sound to my early high school years.
Then came the Beach Boys, Astronauts, The Ventures, the Surfaris, and the list goes on.
He pioneered a sound and the guitars and amplifiers to play them.
He paid the price,
"Dale claimed that he was forced to keep touring to the end of his life, because of his inability to afford his medical costs. He had many health issues, including diabetes, renal failure, and vertebrae damage that made performing excruciatingly painful."
RIP
One of the great ones to be sure.
RIP
He was awesome. R.I.P.
RIP, what was amazing to me is that as a little kid I learned, thanks to my older brother, that DD played left handed without restringing the guitar, truly mind blowing. Hendrix and a few others followed. Regardless amazing talent.
I got to see him a few years ago at The Bluebird theater. It was an incredible show and he explained why he was still playing and touring, then gave the crowd the most sincere “thank you”.
