Chevy stereo question
I have a 2014 Silverado with the 8" stereo and the MyLink system. I use a USB thumb drive to play music in it. A friend just gave me a SHITLOAD of music on a 2tb drive.
Does anybody know if this stereo system has a limit to the size of thumb drive you can plug into it? Or a limit to how many songs? I have no problem using multiple thumb drives, but I'd like to know what size to get.
Thanks!

I think size limits are usually for SD cards. Have you tried just plugging it in to find out?

Best bet is to hit up a GM forum. I bet the caveats and limitations are well understood. I do know that even folks with the latest head-ends run into issues when the files are nested deeply within folders. Probably a file path character limitation.

I've got a 32gb plugged into my 18 Silverado. I've ran it in a 2015 as well without problems.

The 2tb drive I have is just an unpowered passive storage device, essentially a wallet sized thumb drive. And I KNOW my truck and that drive don't like each other.
I'm currently using a 32gb (actually 28.8 usable) and it works great. I bought a 256gb, and the truck ignored it.
I'm just trying to avoid a bunch of trial and error BS of trying different sizes. I don't put music on there as folders, only as single song files. I'm a Shuffle/Random fan, not albums or playlists.

If you have a vehicle and a question, there are a number of forum resources out there for you. You're probably not the only person to run into an issue and I know I've learned a lot from them.
