A coworker caught a few of those last week along with a couple of decent sized brown trout.

Looks like fun.

Kokanee salmon are landlocked, they've never been to the ocean and they can't reproduce, they are stocked fish in reservoirs that think they can spawn so they swim up rivers on a one-way trip to spawn and are greeted by 4.2 gazillion fly fisher folk.

Dream Stream is near Hartsel (east of Fairplay on Hwy 9) and is the short section of river that connects Spinney reservoir and Eleven Mile reservoir. There is nothing remotely 'secret' about this spot, if you want a parking spot right now, I'd highly suggest getting there at dawn or shortly before. It's not a lonely experience, at all. The fish (both salmon and trout) swim up from Eleven Mile Reservoir and spawn below Spinney Reservoir. the flow is quite low right now, I think it was flowing at 75cfs yesterday so it's pretty skinny water.

I figured the salmon were landlocked, just didn't realize they were stocked here at all. Things can happen when non-native species are introduced (like German Browns). Apparently they're in a number of reservoir/river systems in the state.

I'm willing to help with everything but time, -I can't do much to help with that.

As pretty much anyone that knows me will attest, I'll tell you where I fished, what knot to tie, how to tie it, and how to cast a line, but I can't help you rearrange your schedule to do it.

And in that regard you are lucky: your life won't benefit by fishing as much as I do...
