"The Denver City Council honors and acknowledges that the land on which we reside is the traditional territory of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho Peoples. We also recognize the 48 contemporary tribal nations that are historically tied to the lands that make up the state of Colorado.


"We honor Elders past, present, and future, and those who have stewarded this land throughout generations. We also recognize that government, academic and cultural institutions were founded upon and continue to enact exclusions and erasures of Indigenous Peoples.


"May this acknowledgment demonstrate a commitment to working to dismantle ongoing legacies of oppression and inequities and recognize the current and future contributions of Indigenous communities in Denver."

I challenge any self-loathing oppressor who agrees with the above statement to donate (not sell) their residence to disadvantaged indigenous person. Otherwise, it's just bunch of progressive window-dressing.

Nah. They'll just spin up a Native American-flavored non-profit, appoint themselves to the board of directors, funnel taxpayer money into it, and get an additional paycheck out of it.

I'm pretty sure the white men who drafted the original treaties made similar speeches as they shook their hands.

And then promptly wiped their ass with the paper as soon as the "indigenous people" left the office.

If they were virtue signaling any harder we'd have to spin them around all night on the beach.

This seems like a ridiculous waste of time in all possible ways. From the first seed of an idea all the way to the reporting about it.
