Invisible fence: Any suggestions?

I've got some friends out in Black Forest (Colorado Springs) that had an old-tech invisible fence (that worked great) for years. After a hiatus of a couple years without dogs they got another dog and upgraded the invisible fence to the latest version. It's a smart fence that corrects upon exit, doesn't correct upon re-entry and sends a notification when the pet leaves the yard.

At least that's what it's supposed to do, it hasn't worked since day 1. They've now been struggling with it for months.

They're on their third base unit, diagnostics have been run on the buried line which all come back OK, hand testing the unit works but put it on the dog and it chases a squirrel to outside the fence and they receive no notification and as far as they can tell, no correction (if it had corrected, they would have received a notification).

Every time they report a problem they get a different person coming out to the house (they have gotten one guy twice, but that's it). So no continuity, no problem ownership and therefore no customer satisfaction.

Anyone have any experience with invisible fence and a GOOD tech that perhaps they could request by name before they just scrap the whole thing and put in a not-so invisible fence?

...or, even better, contact info for someone higher up in invisible fence that might just care about a customer?

I'd start with a harder hitting collar. Some dogs have a stronger prey drive than the collar can overcome. They should also be able to increase the buffer so it starts to correct further from the boundary.

What brand are they using? Is "invisible fence" a brand name?

I tried a cheapo invisible fence when I got my labs and it was worthless. I went back to Pet Safe and it works like a charm.

Get the stubborn dog collars that take a 9v battery, they will try it once. My 3 dogs won't even chase the deer near the fence. The deer even know where the fence is a stand just beyond and screw with the dogs. Have had the same system for 20 years with a problem.

Yes, this question is specifically about the "Invisible Fence" brand. So other collars are not an option.

Train the dog, stop messing with the collar.

That's what I've read - you have to work with the dog(s) and teach them what areas are safe and what zones are their boundaries. Enter these areas and Satan will zap yer ass.

When the collar starts beeping, let them keep going until they get zapped, then yank their leash and pull them back inside the "safe area/yard".

Teach them where the zap zones are and condition them to jump back when the collar beeps.

Don't know who's running Colo Springs IFC, I started Invisible Fence Co back in the mid 1984 in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, based out of Parker and Denver put over 5,000 dogs on the system, It works great if you fence can appropriate amount of boundary 1/4 acre or more, spend at least 3 days boundary training , most important is making sure the collar is up high ,prongs are touching the curvature of the neck,
the biggest problem ,collar to loose, Some breeds of dogs are PIA , and need special attention, spade and neuter your dogs.
If the people PM me I'd be happy to chat, if they luv dogs enough to spend that much money, it should work, hope IFC kept the fundamentals basic boundary training with audible command and stiff correction.
