I have been eyeing up some Enfields for some time. I have a collection of SKS and other 7.62 goodies. A friend had a bunch of pieces that I purchased. It had 3 different kinds of woods, mismatched bolt and receiver. It needed a few small items like extractor spring and ejector screw that I am waiting on. I also ordered a Hale sight for the rear.
It headspaced fine with a "0" breechbolt head. I am waiting on some matching original furniture. But in the mean time, I took it down and fixed all the cracks and rotten wood, mostly in the Beech. The walnut seemed to hold up much better. I then filled all the pores and sealed it with Polyester. Then added the drab green finish. I glass beaded all the parts then used Duracoat black on all the metal except the bolt. I just painted the handle assembly. I look forward to shooting it in the very near future and will use it to hunt Elk next year. I have my eyes on another No1 right now.
