I have read a bit about this to try to figure out what the controversy is.
The TV guy advised his politician brother on how to downplay a scandal.
I don't understand the problem.
But, I don't really get most of the so called outrage when it comes to politics.

he was using his position as a "reporter" for cnn. To pass along any and every bit of information, when ever an accuser came forward.
