Man, I remember those old flak vests. Worthless POS's that wouldn't stop shit and weighted a ton... I'll take the weight, but it better be weight worth humpin around on my sorry carcass. Those were not.
I have a couple of web gear sets like you are wearing in my basement still. They were still issuing the old metal pots when I started out in the AF back in 88. Then K pots, and Level IIIa gear on my 08-09 Iraq deployment. I hated the K pots. You would go prone and the back of the helmet would hit the back of the body armour and push forward over your eyes. The new level IIIa's are cut int he back for prone shooting.
Man, I was AF, but those photos take me back.
