Cool.
I hope the case you're on isn't long and drawn out but thank you for participating in the process for justice (as it is).
My brother-in-law was a juror in federal court for a case where a guy was suing a company for Popcorn Lung. It lasted several days, he lost.
He was eating like 3 bags of that micro-wave stuff a day!
Have fun!
I have only been called once for jury duty, back in the early '00's. I made it onto the panel, despite being a degreed engineer, prior active Army O3, and looking like some sort of super sk8er/snowboarder dude. It was a felony menacing case, and it quickly became apparent that either the retired United Airlines pilot or myself was going to have to be foreman if we wanted to go home anytime in the next week, so I took the job. The prosecution's case was HORRIBLE, including corrupted evidence, and the public defender was just as bad, almost admitting guilt during a odd line of questioning. After reaching a not guilty verdict, the ONLY one we could reach given the circumstances, I asked the judge if we could speak to Junior DA and Public Defender in our chambers. The look on their incompetent faces was priceless as we read them the riot act on the trial's absolute waste of taxpayer's money and resources. The judge was highly amused. Probably why I have not gotten a summons again
I just got a Grande Jury Summons. I wonder what...who....
I must be on a shit list somewhere (despite having a clean record) because I've never even received a notice to call in to see if I need to report for potential jury duty. I've been registered to vote in CO for over 22 years.
Whatever list I'm on, it's working in my favor apparently.
My batting avg. is pretty good, knock on wood, so far. Only gotten one notice and when I called in ahead of time I was released as the case had been settled out of court.
Been called five times, been selected twice.
Dismissed both times.
First time I laughed out loud when it was announced the defendant would act as his own lawyer.
Second time I told the lawyers there is no way I could judge the defendant without bias. It was a domestic violence case and my pregnant friend had recently been murdered by her boyfriend.
