That’s pretty gnarly stuff.
And humans are arrogant enough to think they have power........LOL
Doncha know we caused this with all of our Green House Gas Emissions...
Lol...
I can't even write that with a straight face...
I did watch one of the live feeds on youtube the other day, it was very interesting.
That feed did spend the time watching a new fissure opening up near town and
it was surprising how fast the fissure expanded.
The clip used here you could see another drone covering the scene from time to time.
The only way to save the town is to ban plastic bags and foam containers! The only way.
We in CO are now safe from volcanos!
The fact that there is such a large fissure is actually a good thing... that relieves a ton of pressure... biggest concern is possible release of toxic fumes.
Depends on the size of the magma reservoir and what kind of pressure it's under. Even if the fissure looks large to us, it may be tiny compared to the reservoir.
I'm sure the Icelanders know better but I get a kick out of our [US] talking heads - there's much teeth-gnashing over how many days or weeks this will last... Guys, this could erupt for the next 1000 years for all we know, especially since it's a rift zone* eruption!
O2
* Most of our volcanic experience in recent history is subduction zone and plume eruptions.
Global warming at its finest. Throw Greta Thunberg in it.
