Movie Thread
Well, I know I've talked about a lot of movies on this site. So instead of high jacking other threads, why don't we just have a movie thread? We've had movie threads before, but they were mostly genre or actor specific. So, any time you see a good flick and want to recommend it, just post it here. "Movie thread" should be easy enough to remember and make searches very easy.
I recently watched L4yer Cake and thought it was a pretty good movie.
I've been trying to go through and watch movies that I've been aware of for a long time, but haven't gotten around to seeing (like Braveheart).
On the menu this week is Deliverance.
Anyone ever seen Gummo?
-
never seen gummo.
I didn't like deliverance. I won't elaborate, don't want to spoil you on it.
haven't seen layer cake either, heard it was ok.
bravehart is a good popcorn flick, but I get a chuckle out of the goobers that think it was historically accurate.

If you like any Guy Ritchie films, then you'll like Layer Cake.
Gummo is.... well, I'd look it up before you take any time watching it. Not really a movie that gets recommended. It takes place in the mid west, and I'd like to hear a reaction to the movie from someone who grew up in the midwest.

How about "Avatar"?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I enjoyed the special effects.
-
I don't know exactly why but the most recent I saw that I enjoyed was
"Book of Eli" [Beer]
-
Book of Eli is on the list, but haven't seen it yet.
I did watch all the Ben Kingsley films that were suggested in that Sexy Beast thread I started by the way. Thanks for all those recommendations.

Gummo was done by some of the people that did Kids. Two very disturbing movies. Gummo was filmed in Xenia, OH. Having lived in that area, some of those people were not acting.
Henry V is still one of my favorite movies.
A few other odd favs;
Choke
Northfork
Crumb
Usual Suspects
Delicatessen
-
I've seen Crumb (can never remember the name of it though) and Usual Suspects.
-
I can never pas up Star Ship Troopers, sucks me in every time.
Anyone seen The Road? Is it worth renting?
-
The Road was good (probably because it was based on a book). It made my fiance all gung hoe to stock up on food. She's already bought a package of rice and some extra noodles. lol. The Road did a great job of making all the scenery very bleak and colorless. I'd like to see the same thing happen (only better) if they ever make a Mistborn movie.
I haven't seen Star Ship Troopers yet. I know it is a big Sci-Fi favorite though. At first I wrote it off as just another summer action movie, but didn't know it was based on books and had a following.
