Quick question, DPMS LR308 jamming

Hi everyone, Just recently bought a DPMS LR 308 from the firearms for sale thread here. About 10 out of 60 180 grain rounds have failed to eject, 0 out of 40 147 grain rounds have failed. The 180 grain rounds I've used are the expensive Winchester X and Remington, While the 147 grain rounds are $16.95 for 20 cheapie rounds. I know I don't have a very substantial sample size to base any conclusions off of yet. But has anyone here heard of a similar case? common causes? solutions to my problem? The 308 should have PLENTY of kick to reload and eject regardless of grain size right? Thanks in advance! I know how helpful everyone is here

I have taken 2 Armor courses on the M110 SASS. It is almost the same gun as the DPMS. IMO (and I know a lot of people will disagree with me) the ar10 platform is just pretty sorry. I would sell that sucker and get a LRB m14

I had a similar problem when mine was new. I found a small metal filing in the groove of the extractor. Brushed it clean, and haven't had a single problem since. Sub-MOA out of an 18" barrel; good enough for me.

Any ideas why it's jamming?

Be a little more specific on what it is doing. Fail to feed-Fail to eject- Just what is going on with it?
Are you running with a WET bolt carrier?
Contrary to popular belief AR's (either the 15 or 10) need the bolt carrier wet-Tetra oil or Royal Purple.
Check for any mechanical deficencies- gas rings good condition and staggered properly-oil on rings- gas leaks around the gas block and tube junction-bolt key loose and or leaking-buffer/spring hanging up etc.
With it being an intermittent problem they can be a bit harder to track down but systematically eliminate items.
Or it just might not like 180 grain.

ok, thanks for the tips, I'll make sure there are no gas leaks, seals are solid, and it's lubed very well. It's not ejecting the cartridge properly and that is causing the misfeed. I'd see the chamber jammed up with one spent round and one fresh one in each other's way.

Hate to say it but I haven't heard much in the way of good things about DPMS when it comes to their 308s. Jam-O-Matics. I've seen them in action, or lack of, lots of issues. I was looking into the AR platform for some precision matches out to about 700. After extensive research I found that most folks running DPMS don't have much luck. I went with a bolt action instead.
