Upper to Lower Fitment Issue

I have a Noveske Lower and a Daniels Defense Forged Upper. They pair together nicely, minus the somewhat shiny Noveske Finish.

But when I actually go to snap my Pivot Pin in, it is waaaay tight. Even with oil it have to force it through the Upper Hole. And once its through, getting it back out requires a punch and a hammer.

I imagine I'm going to have to make the hole a little bigger on the DD Upper. Has anyone done this? Any 'fantastic tool' that could make it easier? I've never had an issue with a Pin not fitting good, so this is all new to me.

you'll need to buy a reamer once you know the size.
You'll need a pin gauge set to determine the hole diameter accurately.

Put a little JB Bore Paste on an old takedown pin and with the detent and spring removed from the lower lap the pin boss's. Lap the upper and lower together. Run it in and out while rotating the pin. Repeat as needed to free pin travel on the NEW pin. It shouldnt take much and make sure you wash it out well. The only time I have reamed one is when the misalignment was too much to lap.

Just putting a bit more thought into this-Is it possibly that the detent is just a touch too tight? I have run across a couple that seemed too tight and I just rounded the end of the detent pin a touch.(chucked them in a drill and just polished the radius a touch).

Don't file, grind, or other wise open the holes.

Assemble the upper to the lower, then take the weapon out to fire. You will see that eventually, through use, the upper will mate to the lower.

Each time out, the Take Down and Pivot Pins will gradually get easier to remove and install.

+1 I have had the same problem with several uppers and lowers. Shooting it always fixed the problem.
