I don't think the OP statement is wrong, it's just nebulous.

i agree with this too. alot of people talk shit, get them self in the position to learn some respect and immediately call the cops instead of manning up and taking the beating. which would of course be a life lesson for them.

that is just a bad policy. but the norm now that nobody takes a beating anymore. they forgot what respect was.

I would say that it depends on the situation (self defense vs. ego contest vs. ??). Violence by itself is not the answer.
