New .22 LR trainer

Shooting the .308 for practice was getting expensive, and the reloading time was just too much.

Here is my new Savage Mark II FV. The scope is a Centerpoint I mounted while I'm waiting for a Millet TRS-1 to arrive from Midway. I extended the length of pull with a spacer under the butt plate and made the adjustable cheek piece. There's a 20 MOA shim under the rear scope mount. I may try the trigger spring modification, but it actually feels decent just adjusted to minimum.

Paint is Krylon. Daughter's handprints are latex paint with a clear coat to keep them from washing off. Pretty silly.

First time out with that crappy scope, it delivered 1" groups at 100 yards with Wolf and Eley. Will do more ammo testing once the proper scope arrives and the snow melts off the ground.

Agreed; that is the coolest "camo" paint job I have seen in a while!

Have you considered changing the stock for one that produced less flex? I ask this because, even though the FV is an amazing platform, I have heard many folks complain that you just can't shoot it from a sling without bending the stock.

Stocky Stocks is selling their Tacticool (same version that comes on the Savage TR) for about $90. Not that this is a required "upgrade" but it may give you more options of usage for your trainer.

In any case, you made a good choice by going with the FV. That is one fine rifle!

Haven't looked at stocks yet. All my shooting is practice for matches that I shoot exclusively prone off the bipod, at least for now. Good to know there are options, though.
