Things that make you say "Really?"

I ran into a gent I know a couple of gunshows ago, he says he has a Super Blackhawk he would like me to work on for him. No problem and I ask him what kind of work it needs and he tells me he needs some sight work done to it. He proceeds to tell me that he took it to a "Gunsmith" to have the barrel shortened and sight re-installed and when he got it back he was not happy with the work that had been done:

I did not inquire as to whom performed this alteration nor what they charged.

Are gunsmiths required to carry malpractice insurance? That patient is in serious condition.

To quote the Godfather:

Downright shameful. I will not say who I think it might have been but I have seen some similar work done by a supposed gunsmith that is blind as a bat and loves to tell people how good he is. [Shock]

Professional liability insurance is usually only available for people how can be licensed as professionals. An architect is a perfect example.

Holy Crap- How in the hell could anyone calling himself a gunsmith do a job like that ? Almost makes me wonder if the owner didn't try a little DIY ?

Whoever did that, clearly was no professional gunsmith. That isn't worthy of a high school shop class project.

The "guano" is actually flux from the brazing rod that was used. When it is heated and especially overheated it turns to a glass-like substance. It extended into the bore about 1/2".
Bitch to remove.
Some of it is also scale from overheating the sight.
