Screw Remington *Rant*

I bought a Remignton o/u several years ago. Been hunting with it w/o any problems. Never fired 3" until this week. Mistake. BOTH barrels let go at once. WOW. Ruined the bird and almost killed me and my dog. No apparent dammage to gun and it still fires 2 3/4" shells fine or bottom barrel 2 3/4" and top 3". Remington told me on the phone today that they will fix it, but only if I have a bill of sale and receipt. I have neither. Fuckem. I'm mailing it back without a return address. Also getting rid of the other 6 Remington firearms that I own, and all the field gear that has the Remington logo on it. I cant believe that a well respected manufacturer wont stand behind their defective product that could be DEADLY. You'd think they'd fix it and send another one back with it and ask me to keep it quiet. That's what Winchester did when I had a problem years ago.

There is no damage (to gun) so I didnt take any pics. There is a pic of the gun that I posted in the hunting forum under " afternoon pheasants". Still works fine, but still has an issue with both barells firing the 3" at the same time. I was bloody from a busted nose, and tore the meat on my trigger finger. I'll destroy the other firearms before I help spread their name/weapons instead of selling them. Just dont care.

Recoil induced misfire?
Maybe the same guy that designed the 700 trigger had a hand in these.
Interesting issue.

Yes BP, from what Remington told me it is recoil induced. I love the way the gun shoots, but WAY to dangerous keep around. One would think a quick install of some firing pin springs would fix the problem. Cant believe that Remington is gonna fight this one.

He'll I want to shoot that thing! That is just what I need for pheasants! Double my chances [ROFL1]

This is not the first twin-tuber to double fire under heavy recoil loads. This happened to me with a Browning and my father with an SKB. In both cases, the company apologized profusely and paid for shipping in both directions for the repair. In the case of my father's SKB, they completely went through the gun and updated or replaced several parts at no charge.

Dude, don't give them your $1k+ gun back for free! Have it repaired at Cole's or Briley and then sell it.

This is what pisses me off so much. Remington knows that there is a problem with these, but wont fix under warranty without receipt and bill of sale. Any chance someone would write me a receipt that owns a gun shop? I remember the shop in Conifer where I bought it, but they closed down a couple of years ago.
